UK NARIC announces a new scheme for UK universities to partner with universities in China: funding is available for staff exchanges and student orientation programmes, for curriculum development, and there is support for joint degrees where Chinese students spend 2 years of their Bachelor course in the UK.
UK NARIC is the exclusive facilitator for this scheme in the UK. Entitled the ‘International High Standard Application-Oriented Institutions Programme’, the scheme was initiated by the CSDP, China’s national agency for education development and innovation, and has the full support of the Chinese Ministry of Education.
The focus of the programme is strengthening the industrial and vocational relevance of university education in China. UK expertise is especially sought in course development – the development of industrially-relevant modules for delivery in China. 4-year joint Bachelor programmes are envisaged where the Chinese student will spend the final 2 years at the UK partner institution.
Funding is available to support secondments of bilingual English-Mandarin academics to Chinese institutions; and also to support orientation and study tour programmes for Chinese students coming to the UK to complete their joint degrees.
The Chinese institutions taking part in the project have been specially selected. The UK is one of a small number of chosen partner countries for the programme.
The scheme is open now to applications of interest from UK institutions. It is envisaged that enrolments to new joint degree programmes developed under the programme will commence in September 2018.
Priority subject areas include, but are not limited to: business; digital media; creative, cultural, and design; tourism and hospitality management. At this stage, we encourage exploratory enquiries, which can then be discussed with our Chinese partners.

There will be a briefing and networking event with our Chinese partners in central London in mid-September. However, interested institutions are invited to email us as soon as possible to initiate discussions.
UK NARIC is excited to announce this new partnership initiative, as part of our Global Connect and China Connect services, to help support and develop your international collaborations.
