In 2018/19, UK NARIC operated a qualification recognition service for Syrian refugees in Jordan, using funding from the UK Government Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. This was a one-year project, and it has now ended.
Over 1000 Syrian refugees applied for the service. Individuals with and without qualification documents received support. The service provided recognition statements which give guidance on the levels of qualifications and skills of Syrian refugees, and give information about work and study opportunities available.
In delivering the service, UK NARIC used methodologies developed through other refugee recognition projects, such as the European Qualification Passport for Refugees.
